Connect the Teensy LC to your PC (it should be detected automatically if you are using Windows). In order to compile the code and write it to the Teensy you'll need the Arduino Framework and the Teensyduino support files. The Teensy will register the button clicks and joystick movement and send the signals to the Raspberry Pi via USB. In this step we want to write the button control code to the Teensy LC. 1x micro SD Card - 16GB (size is up to you). These are examples and show the required properties of the parts. Make sure you have everything you need for the build. This is my very first instructable so if you have any suggestions for improvements please let me know. If you find any mistakes or something is not clear feel free to tell me and I'll try to fix it. Please note that English is not my first language.

If you like it super affordable and simple you should take a look at the GamePi XS - a console in a controller.Check out my new alternation of this GamePi - the GamePi Zero.

It combines all the good stuff of my other device.

You can also post ideas on how to improve the design - just let me know Other Versions: If you like the GamePi check out my page AraymBox for other versions and the upcoming devices. The main difference between the old one and this are the analog joysticks and some minor improvements. This is the second version of my GamePi device (I did not write an instructable for the first one). There are a lot of similar instructables for such devices but for my taste most of them are either too big, too small, too complicated or I just do not like the look. You wish so many things were the way they were when you were a child. This instructable describes the build of a Raspberry Pi 3 powered handheld emulation console - I've baptized it GamePi. You wish any of them could hold your attention the way they did when you were a child. You spend more time downloading roms than you do playing roms. Time is a long hallway of mirrors, and you don’t know where your memory of having fun starts and your memories of memories of having fun begin. Next time you play A Link to the Past, you’ll only start from the beginning because it’s the part you remember best since it’s the part you’ve played the most… because it’s the part you remember best. You’ll even get a little deep in that sitting, saving your game for later.īut why? You’re never come back to that save.

But you’ll play the opening at Hyrule Castle. All you want is to play A Link to the Past for the first time again and look at that rain and think, “Wow - this is how video games will be forever!” But you won’t think that this time. Sometimes you see the face of a stranger inhabiting a version of your body you would’ve been horrified to see as a child. Sometimes you see the face you grew up with. Just like you’ll be disappointed when you realize that Bloody Roar 2 wasn’t good - playing it with friends you don’t even remember the names of anymore was good.Įvery day you look into the mirror. The analog stick certainly helps with PlayStation games, although fans used to dual analog sticks will be disappointed. Like the FunKey S, the PocketGo S30 can emulate almost every system you enjoyed until you got to college and suddenly realized that memories are a saccharine lie. Or maybe you’ll finally get through that English fan translation of Live a Live because there’s still a pre-teen part of you that believes Square could do no wrong despite years and years of them doing some wrong. But the PocketGo S30 feels and plays much better - not to mention lets you load up on more Japanese role-playing games than you could ever finish, promising yourself that if you just really tried hard you could feel the excitement you had at the opening of Final Fantasy 7.

At first glance, the PocketGo S30 looks a bit like the Hyperkin SupaBoy, a system that dared you to play full SNES carts on a portable without everyone looking at you in sympathetic despair.
